Another weakness we have, a very big weakness: there’s always a “me” there trying to get something done. There’s always a “me” trying to even understand the Truth and when you may not be aware of it, you completely feed this “me”.

You want this “me” to have certain harmonies. You want certain things around you to change so that the “me” over here can be more comfortably situated. That’s all the wrong focus.

You want this “me” to have a better job. You want this “me” to have a happy marriage. That’s the wrong focus. You’re working out of a false sense of self.

You must learn that there is no “me” here. There is only the Christ of God here, and that means, at this level, we have no personal desires, no earthly desires.

Before Jesus gives up the ghost, he bows his head. The bowing of the head is the complete surrender of the human ego. He bows his head to tell us that you must learn to bow your head. This is the complete surrender of the human selfhood.

As long as there is a human selfhood there, there is going to be a bad back or a bad child or a bad relationship. There’s going to be good and there’s going to be evil in human relationships.

When there’s no human self, you have bowed your head and then, you can give up the ghost. There must be no human self in your consciousness.

TWO TREES: DICTATION FROM HERB FITCH RE. NON-DUALITY

The reason a teaching such as this exists is that man of his own free will, of his own intelligence, will never know that he is violating cosmic law. Now the secret of non-violation of cosmic law is that you are never tempted and you never succumb to the temptation to believe that there are 2 of anything. There aren’t 2 apples, there aren’t 2 people, there aren’t 2 worlds, there aren’t 2 planets, there aren’t 2 nations. There is one invisible self. That’s the tree of life and when you leave it you violated cosmic law And you will pay the price. The violation Of cosmic law, the violation of the principle that there is only one invisible consciousness, 1 being 1 self, 1 soul, 1 life, 1 body, 1 mind. Coming into the tree of good and evil which is prescribed to Adam-and-Eve . That’s the fall from Eden: the belief that there is multiplicity because now we’re looking through the senses of man and we’re looking at the one with the branch cut off And we cannot receive from the one. It’s like cutting the branch off a tree. While the branch is on the tree there may be 5000 branches but they’re all one with the tree. So are we with the one consciousness now . In our unawareness of it we become unable to receive from the one consciousness. And now we have a divided consciousness . One comes up to us we receive it not. We’re in a different consciousness, a personal sense of self, a little ego instead of the one infinite ego. And now everything we see is in twos. Good bad. High low, hot cold, Healthy unhealthy, Life death. And so the tree of knowledge of good and evil becomes the human experience and it is the violation of the principle of one being. Now there’s nothing that can happen in your life To change the fact that we are all one with each other And we are all one with the 1 consciousness. This is an immutable fact. It is only our believing consciously or subconsciously that we are not one with each other and that we are not 1 with the infinite consciousness which takes us out of the fact of life And this Exhibits itself as a series of problems. Without the sap, no fruit, or fruit that deteriorates . Now this becomes the test then . Can you live in such a way that regardless of what comes into your experience you consciously remember and act from that remembrance – that this one there and this 1 here Is a lie. There may be 2 appearing but There is only one invisible self. And that 1 self is always the perfect divine consciousness. Now I can rest. I don’t have to defend myself. I don’t have to compete, I don’t have to struggle Because the one consciousness is feeding each branch. Whether the branches know it or not, whether the other individuals know it or not The one consciousness is feeding each branch. Now living in the tree of life the one consciousness means you are living in the awareness of an invisible force that permeates the universe And you’re not doing anything to make that force come to you. It is your being now. You’re not turning to that force and directing it. You’re not asking it to do something. You’re not seeking anything from it Because just as the force is flowing through the tree it is Flowing through you. And the big test is when you don’t see that it is flowing from you and the problem Is at your front door step. That is where we most of the time fail. We stare at the problem and we’re looking now at Our concept or the tree of good and evil And we’re convinced that this is a real problem . We’re hypnotized. There’s nothing in the world that’s going to convince us that this isn’t real . One woman said “my husband came home drunk. You can’t tell me that that was an illusion because I sat up all night Because of it.” No we can’t tell her that But it was an illusion and so was her sitting up all night. She can continue to assert the fact that she saw it And she went through it. It was her experience And you can’t change that. but she’s violating cosmic law. She’s living in the tree of good and evil To live in the tree of life One would have to be in a certain consciousness which says I smell it, I see it, It’s disgusting, it’s revolting It’s disturbing but it isn’t here. Now you say how can we do such a thing ? The answer is whether you like it or not this is the way To Christhood. And you will find that all of these things are happening . It’s kind of like a police whistle . Suddenly you hear the whistle. You didn’t want to violate. You didn’t want to go through the light You didn’t want to turn on that double arrow Or if you did you hoped no one would see you But there’s that whistle and you stop . Now that’s the same thing when some discord comes into your life . It doesn’t make any difference what kind of discord . It happens just like a police whistle . It’s there to call your attention to the fact that you aren’t living in the Tree of life. You may be angry. You may wish this discord didn’t happen. You may lose your temper, but always you’re missing the point that this discord which happened Is calling your attention to the fact That if you were in the tree of life And not in the tree of good and evil this discord could not happen. And so karmic [(in Theosophy) the cosmic principle of rewards and punishments for the acts performed in a previous incarnation.] law hits you right now . Right now it points the finger at you and it says This is the problem and you have deviated from the law so pay the price.

Herb’s teaching is not something that can possibly be adequately “checked out”. It doesn’t lend itself in any way to a cursory checking as its depth does not jump out at you. All motion, all time, all space, all material consciousness is the relationship of one set of vibrations to another set and that is not the world that Christ Jesus walked in. He discovered another world where there is no vibration. My Kingdom is not a world of vibration. And if you want to walk in My Kingdom, you must find a way to resist not evil and evil is resisted only in one way. The vibrations of your electrical self respond to the vibrations of that which you think is evil. To resist not means to remove the vibration of your being, to come into a state of non-vibration. And so it s called non-reaction, non-resistance. And it means non-vibration. When you are in a state of non-vibration, then vibrations that touch you find no reaction in you and you’re not involved. Non-vibration is the method, the Silence in the wilderness that takes you into the Invisible kingdom of non-vibration. The still waters of the Spirit. “He leadeth me beside the still waters.”29 As you learn to live with Christ in you, you are taken into the still waters; the kingdom of non-vibration, in which world thought cannot move through you because you are in a state of no thought. Your non-thought takes you out of the emotions, out of the mind, out of the material world of vibration into the non-vibrating perfect Spiritual universe where all is one.

“Now, the greatest obstacle, of course, is the image of the human body. It is a very difficult image to release, mostly because you are walking in one. Suppose you were to look into a TV screen and see a human form doing something on the screen. And now in your mind’s eye, just enlarge that screen to life size so that, that figure you are looking at is about 5’6” whatever it’s doing, just look at a five feet six figure but it is on a television screen. Now take away the television screen and keep looking at the figure. If there were no screen there would you know if that were just a figure on the screen or not? You might accept it as the real thing, if you couldn’t see the screen or the cabinet around it, especially if it were life-size. Now, Jesus saw every form on earth that way. All walking on an invisible television screen, all concept, all responding to stimuli they knew not of, all saying I am flesh and blood. All unaware, that they were controlled. All unaware, that they were not the Divine image and likeness of God. All unaware of their own True-self which is the Divine image and likeness of God.”

There is a signature of thought in all things if you’re looking for it. When we say we want to follow the will of God, it isn’t a cold will, a factual will; do this, do that, do the other thing, it’s a rhythm, and that rhythm contains the signature. There is a rhythm in God very different than just obeying a command, and if you are not capturing the rhythm and responding to it, then you are not walking in the will, because the will is expressed in the rhythm. This rhythm of God says to you certain things that are conveyed by instinct and intuition. It wants you to do certain things and when you do not respond to that rhythm, you do not do those things, you stop at a human level. You say, “This is my horizon,” and you forget about God’s unlimited horizon, and then you’re out of the rhythm.
