DMV MURPHY’S LAW

MURPHY’S LAW MEETS HOLY SPIRIT
Who hasn’t had a day in the not-too-distant past when it seemed like everything that could go wrong, did?
A few months ago I had the dubious pleasure of visiting the D.M.V. (Department of Motor Vehicles) to renew my driver’s license. I hadn’t gone in person in some 30 years and yet I remembered the last scenario like it was yesterday’s real live horror show.
This time I was going all “prayed up” and determined to put happy spiritual truths to a test while assuming the loftiest attitude conceivable. I would make two trips if need be, two months early and with zero worldly expectations whatsoever, more of a fact-finding walk in the park.
Soooo, nothing was more important to me – nothing in the whole wide world – than remaining squarely at the center of my being, where God resides. What could go wrong, thought I – it’ll be a positive experience and I’ll simply go back another day to complete the task.
Well, Murphy was on target: my right shoe broke. Mind you, my plan had included walking a few miles through a crowded midtown Manhattan, only now – halfway there – it was to be with a broken shoe!
Next I had a great deal of trouble locating the place due to construction work in full operation on both sides of the very busy street; and, when I finally did arrive – for all intents and purposes – it was worse than I’d ever imagined! Not one single person working there was the least bit helpful or even courteous to anyone who came in.
My mission had become that of finding out exactly what I was to do on my second trip, but I wasn’t getting much of anywhere on this trip as far as knowing what to do next time. Everyone there was in the same quandary that I was, not knowing if they were in the right line and for what!
But, but, but remember I was well prayed up and wasn’t really “feeling” the frustration and distress all around me. I remember wondering if my experience were akin to most of Jesus’ in which his spiritual awareness got him through untold miseries.
I’m gonna cut this short now and say that with a little instantaneous spiritual refreshment I was suddenly miraculously completely through and on my way home!
