Self-enquiry vs Self-abidance -RSpira

What is it that is aware of our thoughts feelings desires etc? Whatever it is it is I. That’s what we call I.
WHO OR WHAT AM I ? AWAY FROM OBJECTIVE CONTENT AND TOWARDS THE SOURCE.
SELF-ENQUIRY STARTS WITH A QUESTION OR INVESTIGATION: WHO OR WHAT AM I?
Once that question has been asked there is nothing more for the mind to do.
WE ASK THE QUESTION THEN WAIT FOR THE ANSWER. THAT WAITING IS SELF-ABIDANCE (SANSKRIT FOR ATMA VICHARA).
Ramana Maharshi called it sinking into awareness. Christian Mystics call it practicing the presence of God. It is realizing that inquiry doesn’t really mean asking a series of questions and thinking thinking thinking but rather asked the one question and then exercise self abidance where the true self is not a thing that you think about the true self is that which knows and sees rather than the so called person asking.
Rumi called this non-process process “flow down and down and down into ever-widening rings of being.”
