For J, the Course is a work of art, not a science project. It’s a complete presentation given on different levels. You have to grant him some artistic license. Much of the Course is presented in Shakespearean blank verse, or iambic pentameter. Do you know why? GARY: I have not a freakin’idea. ARTEN: Not only is it beautiful, but it forces you to read the Course more slowly and carefully. Also, it tends to attract long-term students who are serious about learning it. Obviously, the Course isn’t for everyone. Or as we said before, at least not everyone all at once.

The Sound Of Silence
Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
“Fools,” said I, “you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you

But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming

And whispered in the sound of silence”
If you are afraid – ACIM
If you are afraid, you are valuing wrongly. Your understanding will then inevitably value wrongly, and by endowing all thoughts with equal power will inevitably destroy peace. That is why the Bible speaks of “the peace of God which passeth understanding.” This peace is totally incapable of being shaken by errors of any kind. It denies the ability of anything not of God to affect you. This is the proper use of denial. It is not used to hide anything, but to correct error. It brings all error into the light, and since error and darkness are the same, it corrects error automatically.

Through false education, which constitutes finite sense, we have come to fear certain individuals, things, and conditions, not realizing that . ●●● as these are coming to us through the avenue of consciousness they are all God-being, Consciousness-appearing, Spirit-substance.●● . Material consciousness is the false finite sense which beholds the universe and man as limited, as being both good and evil. Spiritual consciousness is the awareness of the individual as God-being, as having only the mind of God and the body of Spirit. It recognizes the entire universe as mind-appearing and governed by divine Principle. Spiritual consciousness is the ability to see beyond the appearance to reality. It is the recognition and realization that as God is our mind, all that appears to us is in and of God which is our only consciousness. Spiritual consciousness does not overcome or destroy matter or material conditions, but knows that no such conditions exist which finite sense presents. It translates the appearance for us, revealing the true nature of that which is appearing.

The reason that singing in a room with good acoustics is a much more enjoyable experience than singing in a soundproof room is that, in a soundproof room, your voice does not return to you. It goes outward, is absorbed, and does not come back. In a room with good acoustics, however, what you release returns, and your voice sounds that much more full, complete, and powerful because of it.
It is the same with faith. A faith that we never release or let go of is like singing in a soundproof room. It is a rather underwhelming experience and feels painfully flat and empty. When you hold loosely to your faith, however, and choose to let it go, all while trusting that it will return to you in a more beautiful form, you experience the phenomenon of resonance. It does return eventually, only it returns in a far more dynamic form than the one you released.
Don’t be afraid to let go. A faith that you cannot release is a faith that will fall flat. But a faith you can release, and let go of, is a faith that will always return and resonate.

When the sacred and secret name of God – the I – has been revealed to you, you have the Word. The fruitage of that Word is the grace of God – peace, joy, harmony, and abundance. With that sacred and secret Word in the forehead, you walk up and down this earth: You are seen as an ordinary man or woman, but your presence is felt as if you were a saint. You do not live by might or power: You live solely by the Spirit of God which is now within you – by the Word of God, by that secret Word, that sacred Word, that Word of power – not material or mental, but spiritual. The Word never has to be uttered because it continually utters itself. You do not speak it; you hear it and you rest in its assurance.
